The Revised Common Rule

Researchers conducting human subjects research must abide by the Code of Federal Regulations for the Protection of Human Subjects. The HHS’ Office for Human Research Protections, who oversees the regulations, have recently issued a Revised Common Rule. This Revised Code of Federal Regulations will take effect on January 19th, 2019, and all human subjects research initiated after that date must be compliant with the new regulations. This Revised Common Rule includes many changes designed to improve research participant protections and modernize the regulations to address new ethical questions in the 21st century.
