Professor Rob Kerns appointed Program Director for the CBB’s Predoctoral Training Program in Biotechnology

The National Institute of General Medical Science has approved Professor Rob Kerns as the new Program Director for the CBB’s Predoctoral Training Program in Biotechnology.  This training grant was first awarded to the CBB in 1991 under the leadership of Professor David Gibson.  Through the period starting in 1991 to today, Professors Gibson, Daniel Quinn, Amnon Kohen, and now Kerns, have served as the PD for this nationally recognized program.  Over the years, the program has awarded 184 NIH-fellowships to graduate students in many departments across the UI campus.  The Center has strongly supported this training program by awarding an additional 271 CBB-fellowships over this same period.
