Mary M. Garner earned a B.L.S. degree from Iowa State University in 2003. Her degree had 3 focus areas; natural sciences, psychology, and human development, which positioned her to integrate knowledge from multiple disciplines to evaluate issues and solve problems. 

Post graduation, she immediately joined the CBB, and with two decades of experience, she asserts a valuable and unique skillset. Initially, she became proficient in both upstream and downstream biomanufacturing as a both a Research Assistant and Research Associate before transitioning into the quality department in 2007, when the CBB opened their cGMP Phase 1 facility. This transition afforded her the opportunity to gain expertise in global quality systems management, documentation compliance, product release, development and implementation of new company policies and procedures, and contract/project management for an array of clients. She currently serves as Director of Quality Assurance, since 2020, where she provides management of the Quality department, oversees the professional staff, interfaces with clients, and collaborates with the Director's team to ensure CBB's productivity. 

She currently lives in Cedar Rapids with her husband and two sons. Outside of work, she spends her free time at her kids’ many activities, attends sporting events, and enjoys home décor & her outdoor flowers.
